HOBOKEN, N.J. — Walmart is eliminating 481 corporate jobs at its Hoboken office, according to a notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
The job cuts affect employees at the company’s Hoboken offices, including the one on River Street, according to the New Jersey Business and Industry Association. A leaked internal memo revealed that Walmart is asking affected employees to relocate to offices in Arkansas and California to work more closely with teams there.
The memo, sent by Walmart’s chief people officer Donna Morris, stated that the company has been discussing the changes since last year to enhance collaboration, innovation, and efficiency. It also confirmed the closure of Walmart’s North Carolina office.
