WASHINGTON — Kash Patel was sworn in as the new director of the FBI on Saturday in a brief ceremony attended by key Republican figures and national security officials.
Patel took the oath of office at 4:52 p.m., concluding a minute later, with his girlfriend and family standing beside him. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Patel entered the room at 4:51 p.m. to applause from a crowd of about seven dozen people.
Among those in attendance were Senator Tommy Tuberville, Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Jim Jordan, special missions envoy Richard Grenell, and National Security Council counterterrorism senior director Sebastian Gorka.
