NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an aggravated assault shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Stuyvesant Avenue.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the city’s ShotSpotter system detected gunfire at approximately 2:24 p.m. in the 100 block of Stuyvesant Avenue. Responding officers recovered two .45 caliber shell casings in a parking lot and a third near the entrance.
Police have released an image of the suspect and are urging anyone with information about his identity to come forward.
Director Miranda encourages the public to call the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips can be submitted anonymously and may qualify for a reward.
Authorities continue to investigate the shooting as they search for the suspect.
