NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) and CAIR Action NJ on Wednesday condemned Democratic Jewish Caucus Chair Justin Goldsman for allegedly making anti-Muslim remarks on social media and called for his resignation from all public positions.
Goldsman, who serves as chief of staff for Assemblyman Gary Schaer and as a commissioner on the West Orange Human Relations Commission, reportedly posted comments on Facebook and X that CAIR-NJ described as “dehumanizing” and “Islamophobic.”
In one post, Goldsman allegedly wrote, “we are humans not Muslims” alongside a heart emoji and a link to a since-deleted X post. In another post from September 2024, he reportedly referenced an Islamophobic trope, writing: “Can’t sleep with 72 fake imaginary virgins with a blown off terrorist d–k can you?”
CAIR-NJ Executive Director Selaedin Maksut condemned the remarks, stating, “Such behavior is wildly unbefitting of someone who is in a position of power. Accountability is necessary.”
Maksut called on New Jersey officials to denounce the comments and urged Goldsman to resign.
Neither Goldsman nor the Democratic Jewish Caucus has publicly responded to the allegations.
