WASHINGTON, D.C. — A suspect linked to multiple firearm offenses was arrested after a reported shooting led officers to a stolen vehicle and a foot chase in Northwest D.C.
The incident began Monday afternoon when officers responded to the 3000 block of 14th Street, Northwest, for a report of gunfire. Witnesses saw a suspect exit a vehicle, fire a gun, and flee. Officers recovered shell casings, and a lookout was issued for the suspect and vehicle.
A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle, which was determined to be stolen. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended with assistance from Fourth District officers.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Amon Ward of Northwest D.C., was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. A subsequent search of Ward’s residence led to additional charges after investigators recovered firearm components, ammunition, and stolen property linked to an armed robbery.
Ward now faces multiple firearm-related charges, including Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Felon in Possession.
