HACKENSACK, N.J. – Four men have been charged in connection with a 2024 drive-by shooting in Hackensack after authorities arrested three of the suspects in coordinated raids last week, prosecutors said.
The shooting occurred on June 25, 2024, at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Newman Street, when two vehicles pulled up and gunmen opened fire on a group of people. A parked car was hit, but no injuries were reported, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Detectives identified the suspect vehicles and linked them to Quayyan R. Horton and Charles E. Kirkland, along with two other alleged accomplices, Nafee A. Horton and Hakeem J. Jones.
On February 14, 2025, authorities arrested Quayyan Horton, Kirkland, and Nafee Horton at separate residences in Jersey City and Newark. The Bergen County and Hudson County Regional SWAT teams assisted in executing search warrants, leading to the seizure of an illegal firearm at Horton’s residence. Jones, already incarcerated in Essex County, was also charged.
All four suspects face multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault. They remain in custody as court proceedings continue.
