CUMBERLAND, Md. — Reports today claim authorities in Western Maryland have arrested two members of the Zizians, a cultlike group linked to at least six deaths, including the fatal shooting of a Border Patrol agent in Vermont last month.

Jack LaSota, known as “Ziz,” the elusive leader of the group, was taken into custody Sunday evening alongside Michelle Zajko in Allegany County. Both are being held in the Allegany County jail on firearm and trespassing offenses, as well as charges of obstructing or hindering authorities, according to online court records.
LaSota, who uses she/her pronouns, and Zajko had been the subjects of an extensive law enforcement search following their alleged involvement in violent activities. Details regarding their arrests and potential connections to the Vermont shooting were not immediately available Monday.
The arrests mark a significant development in the investigation of the Zizians, a group authorities have linked to multiple homicides and criminal activities.
