Brick Township to celebrate 175th birthday with free community bash

BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Brick Township will mark its 175th anniversary with a community-wide celebration at the annual Brick Birthday Bash, set for Saturday, February 22, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brick Civic Plaza, officials announced.

The free event will feature games, music, hand painting, giveaways, and birthday cake, with a group singing of “Happy Birthday” and cake-cutting scheduled for 4 p.m. The Brick Township Historical Society will be in attendance, sharing stories and photos from the township’s 175-year history.

While open to all, the event is designed for younger attendees. It is organized by the Mayor’s Student Advisory Committee, which includes students from Brick Township and Brick Memorial High Schools. The tradition began in 2016 after an elementary school student suggested the idea.

In addition to the celebration, Mayor Lisa Crate provided updates in the latest edition of Mayor’s Minutes on the long-debated redevelopment of the former Foodtown site on Route 70. She also announced a scholarship opportunity for high school juniors and seniors.

Brick Township officials encourage residents to join the celebration and honor the community’s rich history.
