WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Justice has filed charges against the State of New York, Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced.
“We have filed charges against the state of New York. We have filed charges against Kathy Hochul. We have filed charges against Letitia James and Mark Schroeder, who is with DMV,” Bondi said during a press conference. “This is a new DOJ, and we are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens, and angel moms.”
Bondi said the charges were over New York’s illegal immigration sanctuary. This follows a similar lawsuit filed against Illinois.
She said she is holding the state leaders accountable for allowing droves of criminal illegal aliens into the state, against federal laws, being released by leaders in New York.
The announcement signals a legal battle between the federal government and New York’s leadership, though further details regarding the case were not immediately available.
