ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A man was arrested with a loaded handgun following a road rage incident in Atlantic City, police said.

On February 10 at 11:46 a.m., officers responded to the first block of North Arkansas Avenue after occupants of a vehicle reported that another driver had threatened to shoot them and displayed a firearm. The altercation began after the occupants refused to allow the suspect to merge into traffic.

Officer Heriberto Barrios-Gomez confirmed the account and reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby convenience store, which provided the suspect’s license plate. Officer Matthew Schmidt later located the vehicle in the 3800 block of Atlantic Avenue, where the driver, Joel Suero, 40, of Atlantic City, was identified and arrested.

A loaded handgun was recovered from Suero’s vehicle, and he was found in possession of eight ecstasy pills. He faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, terroristic threats, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Suero was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility as the investigation continues.
