Attempted murder suspect found hiding in Baltimore hotel

BALTIMORE, MD — A man accused of a 2024 shooting in the Northwest District that left a 25-year-old critically injured has been arrested, officials said.

Joseph Edwards, 24, of Baltimore, was taken into custody on February 4 at a hotel in Baltimore County. Investigators determined he was responsible for shooting the victim in the 3100 block of West North Avenue on April 23rd of last year.

The victim, who was found with a gunshot wound around 11:23 p.m. that night, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition has not been released.

Edwards was booked into the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with attempted first-degree murder, as well as drug and firearm trafficking offenses.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about a possible motive.
