PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A Pittsburgh man with multiple warrants was taken into custody Friday, and his girlfriend was charged with hindering his apprehension, according to Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus.
Dereck Reeves, 33, had been a fugitive since December after bench warrants were issued for probation violations related to drug, firearms, and escape charges. He also had an outstanding warrant for indecent assault involving the son of a former girlfriend and a bench warrant from Family Division for failing to appear in court.
Detectives determined Reeves was staying at the 5th Avenue apartment of his current girlfriend, Chanelle Ollison. On Friday morning, investigators saw Ollison leave the apartment and questioned her about Reeves’ whereabouts. She denied knowing where he was and claimed no one was inside because the heat was not working.
When detectives requested permission to search the apartment, Ollison refused. While awaiting a search warrant, officers spotted Reeves in a second-floor window, entered the residence, and took him into custody without incident.
