NEWARK, Del. — Four juvenile males were arrested early Thursday morning following a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle that ended in an apartment complex on Wyoming Road, Newark Police said.
At approximately 2 a.m., an officer observed a gray Kia Forte run a stop sign at Hillside Road and Sypherd Drive. A check of the Delaware registration confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen out of Wilmington. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled at high speed, committing multiple traffic violations.
Police deployed Stop Sticks, successfully deflating the vehicle’s tires. The suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot. Officers later found two suspects hiding in a bush and arrested them, while the other two surrendered without incident.
All four juveniles were charged with offenses including receiving stolen property over $1,500, conspiracy, and multiple traffic violations. Three were released to their parents on unsecured bail, while a 16-year-old was held at the New Castle County Detention Center on secured bail.
Authorities continue to investigate as auto theft remains a concern in the region.
