Police Continue Search for Teen Suspect in Shooting, Three Arrested

COLUMBIA, MD — Howard County police have arrested three people in connection with the Jan. 14 fatal shooting of 17-year-old Lance Carrington in what authorities say was a targeted attempted robbery. A fourth suspect, 16-year-old Jemik Parker, remains at large, and police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Parker, of Columbia, is charged as an adult with first- and second-degree murder. Janae Baker, 18; Kendall Stagg, 18; and Charles Epperson Jr., 19, also of Columbia, were arrested and face the same charges. They are being held at the Howard County Detention Center without bail.

Investigators allege the suspects planned to rob Carrington of a firearm. When police found Carrington dead inside a parked vehicle on Helen Dorsey Way, they recovered a loaded handgun in his possession. Detectives believe Baker was in the vehicle with Carrington when Parker, Epperson Jr., and Stagg approached, at which point Parker allegedly shot Carrington before all four suspects fled.

Authorities have released Parker’s identity and photo, citing a Maryland law that allows juvenile suspects to be publicly identified if they remain at large and are considered a public safety risk.
