PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A fatal crash on I-95 South in Prince William County has resulted in reckless driving charges against a Fredericksburg man, according to Virginia State Police.
The collision occurred around 2:40 p.m. on February 4 near the 151-mile marker. A Lexus, stopped on the right shoulder of the express lanes, was struck by a Ford driven by 43-year-old Jeremy S. Kubela. The force of the impact pushed the Lexus into a guardrail before it came to rest in the travel lanes.
The driver of the Lexus, identified as 57-year-old Vernon S. Lee II of Chester, VA, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 25-year-old Shannon S. Lee, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Kubela was not injured in the incident and was charged with reckless driving. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
