TEANECK, N.J. — A Bergenfield man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that left a 17-year-old girl seriously injured in Teaneck, prosecutors announced Monday.

Elvis E. Sunder, 37, was charged following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Teaneck Police Department. Authorities say the crash occurred on Nov. 23, 2024, around 11:22 p.m. at the intersection of Teaneck Road and Tryon Avenue. The victim, a teenager from Englewood, was struck while crossing the street.

Investigators determined that a 2015 BMW hit the pedestrian before fleeing the scene without notifying police. After months of investigation, Sunder was identified as the driver.

Sunder faces multiple charges, including third-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, third-degree endangering an injured victim, and fourth-degree obstruction of justice. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail and is awaiting a court appearance.
