WASHINGTON — A former senior NBC executive is facing backlash after referring to U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem as “Cowboy Barbie,” a remark critics are calling sexist and inappropriate.
The comment, attributed to NBC Senior Executive Mike Sington in a social media post, was made in reference to Noem’s recent defense of former President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs. In the post, Sington highlighted Noem’s statement that if Trump’s tariffs caused price increases, it would be due to “other people’s reactions.”
The remark has sparked criticism from Noem’s supporters and others who say it diminishes her role as a senior government official. Noem, a former governor of South Dakota, has been a vocal ally of Trump and was appointed Homeland Security Secretary in his administration.
“Why do you people hate beautiful , intelligent , strong biological women,” one user on X commented.
In an equally disturbing comment, it was Singleton who declared 18-year-old Baron Trump “Fair Game” after the President’s son turned 18.
