HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Two separate crashes late Tuesday night left two people dead and temporarily shut down major roadways, according to police.
The first crash occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. when a 2013 Hyundai Sonata traveling eastbound on Whiskey Bottom Road near Kings Post Court failed to navigate a curve and struck a tree. The driver, an adult female, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead. A minor child in the rear seat was taken to the hospital for evaluation. No other vehicles were involved.

The second crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on Washington Boulevard when a 2013 Nissan Altima traveling northbound in the 8000 block collided with a dark-colored sedan exiting the Super 8 Motel. The Altima then veered off the roadway, striking a telephone pole and a fence. The sedan involved in the crash fled the scene, continuing northbound.
