SCHODACK, N.Y. — New York State Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Auburn who fled on foot after a police pursuit ended on the Berkshire Spur of the New York State Thruway in Rensselaer County.
Edgard David Torres, 40, is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities are urging the public not to approach him but to call 911 if spotted.
Troopers identified Torres’ vehicle around 9:30 p.m. Friday on the Thruway. The vehicle had previously fled a traffic stop earlier that evening in Montgomery County. Police deployed a tire-deflation device, disabling the vehicle near Exit B1 in the town of Schodack. Both occupants fled into the nearby woods, and one was apprehended, but Torres remains at large.
Torres is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 240 pounds. Police have not released additional details about the armed robbery or the suspect’s potential whereabouts.
Authorities continue to search for Torres and urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement immediately.
