FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A Minnesota man is behind bars after allegedly traveling more than 1,200 miles to meet a 15-year-old he met on social media, Fairfax County police announced.

Officers responded to the 2000 block of Blue Ridge Court in Reston on Jan. 25 around 3 p.m. after a father called police upon discovering 30-year-old Trent Fair with his teenage child.

Detectives with the Child Exploitation Unit determined that Fair met the teen through TikTok and traveled to Virginia with the intent to engage in illicit acts. He was arrested and charged with four counts of Solicitation of a Minor, five counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Production of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Fair remains held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Authorities have provided support to the victim through specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division.

Law enforcement urges parents to monitor their children’s online activities and report any suspicious interactions to prevent exploitation.
