WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have arrested a Bolivian national convicted of driving while intoxicated in Fairfax County, Virginia, the agency announced.
Daniel Bustamante-Cespedez was apprehended on Jan. 15 by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C., after being convicted of DWI on Dec. 18, 2024. Authorities said Bustamante lawfully entered the U.S. on May 23, 2022, but later violated the terms of his admission.
“Not only is Mr. Bustamante in our country illegally, he decided to risk the safety of Virginia residents by driving while he was intoxicated,” ICE Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Liana Castano said. “We will not tolerate criminal alien offenders to threaten the safety of our Washington, D.C., and Virginia communities.”
Bustamante has been issued a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge and remains in ICE custody.
ICE ERO continues to enforce immigration laws by apprehending and removing individuals who lack lawful status in the U.S., with immigration judges determining the outcomes of individual cases.
