DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — A Hyattsville resident scored a $61,690 Racetrax win after taking advice from his nephew during a visit to a District Heights Lottery retailer earlier this month.

Typically a scratch-off player, the Prince George’s County man decided to try Racetrax after his nephew, a fan of the game, taught him how to play. Following the advice to use the Superfecta Wheel option, he placed a $1 bet on horses 9, 10, 11, and 1, covering all possible combinations with the 1 horse finishing fourth.

The horses came through in the exact order of 11, 9, 10, and 1, delivering the $61,690 jackpot. The winner, who was not even watching the race, later checked his $6 ticket and was thrilled to discover his massive win.

The retired government employee plans to use the money to pay bills, enjoy hobbies like golfing and bowling, and treat himself. His previous biggest win was a $10,000 scratch-off prize.

Lucky Lottery, located at 6029 Marlboro Pike in District Heights, will also celebrate, receiving a $616.90 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
