MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A FedEx delivery truck caught fire following a crash on the I-270 Spur in Bethesda on Saturday evening, sending one person to the hospital, officials said.

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to the southbound I-270 Spur between the I-270 split and Democracy Boulevard around 7:40 p.m., according to spokesperson Pete Piringer. Crews discovered the FedEx truck ablaze after colliding with another vehicle.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire while medics treated one individual with serious injuries at the scene before transporting them to a hospital. The person’s condition remains unknown as of Saturday night.

Piringer also noted that portions of the northbound and southbound lanes under Westlake Terrace were blocked, causing delays for drivers in the area.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, and no further details about the collision have been released.
