NORTH BETHESDA, MD — Emergency crews responded Saturday evening to the North Bethesda Metro Station after reports of a pedestrian struck by a train. Rescue Squad RS741B joined units from the 2nd and 3rd Battalions to assist at the scene.
First responders located a priority 4 patient, signifying the individual was deceased, in the tunnel near the station. Fire and rescue personnel worked to secure the area before transferring the scene to Metro Transit Police for further investigation.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or details about how the incident occurred. Metro Transit Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatality, and train service was temporarily disrupted while responders were on-site.
Metro officials expressed condolences and are cooperating with authorities as they review safety measures and protocols.
