NEWBURGH, N.Y. — Kaliek Goode-Ford, 35, of Newburgh, was convicted Thursday of all charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, for fatally shooting three family members and attempting to kill a child in a 2021 attack, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced.
The jury found Goode-Ford guilty of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree and second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence. He is scheduled for sentencing on March 18, 2025, and faces life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors said Goode-Ford entered a residence in the Town of Newburgh, where he shot and killed a man, his wife, and their nine-year-old son. A three-year-old boy was also shot but survived. Goode-Ford disposed of the weapon by throwing it and its magazine into the Hudson River, investigators said.
“The utter viciousness and senseless violence this defendant exhibited…is unparalleled,” said Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler in a statement. He thanked local police, state troopers, and federal agencies for their roles in the investigation and arrest.
Goode-Ford was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail following the verdict.
The conviction brings closure to a case that shocked the community and underscores the severity of the crime.
