SECAUCUS, N.J. — A Belleville man has been arrested in connection with a series of truck burglaries that occurred in Secaucus last October, police said.
Luis Najera Mendoza, 23, was taken into custody on January 17, following a months-long investigation by Secaucus police detectives. He is accused of burglarizing six trucks parked in a fenced-in lot on Henry Street during the overnight hours of October 29, 2024, and stealing EZ Pass transponders and portable radios valued at approximately $3,000.
Police said a consensual search of Mendoza’s residence and vehicle led to the recovery of some of the stolen property.
“I am proud of the investigative work of my detectives,” said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller in a statement. “Their continuous hard work is symbolic to their dedication to the residents and business owners in Secaucus. What these detectives do on a daily basis truly makes a difference to the quality of life in this town.”
Mendoza has been charged with two counts of burglary and theft of moveable property, according to authorities.
