CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — A Capitol Heights man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend, whose remains were discovered in his home during a police search, authorities said Monday.
The suspect, 30-year-old Devontae Gray, is accused of killing 29-year-old Alexis Schuler of Washington, D.C., who had been reported missing last week. According to the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD), Schuler’s body was found on January 19, 2025, inside Gray’s residence in the 700 block of Larchmont Avenue.
The investigation began on January 18, 2025, when the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) contacted PGPD for assistance in locating Schuler. A search warrant executed at Gray’s home revealed that he had made extensive efforts to conceal her remains. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that Schuler died from a gunshot wound.
Gray was taken into custody at the scene and, according to police, has confessed to the murder. Detectives believe the killing occurred during a dispute between the two. He is charged with first-degree murder and related offenses and is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
