VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Police Department officers have departed to join thousands of law enforcement and military personnel in Washington, D.C., ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The department announced on Sunday that its officers were called upon nearly a year ago by the Washington Metropolitan Police Department to assist with security efforts during the 2025 inaugural events. VBPD previously contributed resources during President Biden’s inauguration four years ago.

More than 25,000 law enforcement and military personnel from across the country will be working together to ensure the safety of attendees during the high-profile event.
“We are proud to be a part of this important part of our nation’s democracy every four years and to serve shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands of other dedicated law enforcement professionals,” the department stated.
The Virginia Beach officers will remain on duty in the nation’s capital throughout the inauguration ceremonies.
