Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A stolen vehicle led to a police pursuit and crash on Wednesday evening in Southeast D.C., ending with the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect.

The incident began around 6:30 p.m. when a suspicious vehicle was spotted in the 1500 block of South Capitol Street, Southwest. After officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled the scene and later crashed in the 100 block of T Street, Southeast. Both the driver and a passenger fled on foot, but the driver was apprehended shortly after.

An investigation revealed the car had been stolen from the 800 block of Maine Avenue, Southwest. The suspect was also found in possession of property stolen from additional parked vehicles in the same area.

Jaylen Young, 18, of Southwest D.C., was arrested and charged with several offenses, including Theft One (Stolen Auto), Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Fleeing from Law Enforcement, and two counts of Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle.
