Death of Queens man ruled homicide; investigation ongoing

QUEENS, NY — The death of a Queens man initially found unresponsive in his home last October has been officially ruled a homicide, the New York Police Department confirmed Tuesday.

Officers from the 109th Precinct responded to a 911 call around 10:00 p.m. on October 20, 2024, at 14-50 110th Street. Upon arrival, police discovered 45-year-old Carlos Buritica unconscious and unresponsive on the bedroom floor of his residence.

Emergency Medical Services pronounced Buritica dead at the scene.

On January 14, 2025, following further investigation, authorities determined Buritica’s death to be a homicide.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
