TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Manchester Township man has been sentenced to 18 years in New Jersey State Prison for the attempted murder of a woman in a 2023 stabbing incident, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Friday.
Harry Bray, Jr., 37, received the sentence from Judge Kenneth T. Palmer following his guilty plea to attempted murder. Under the No Early Release Act, Bray must serve at least 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
On January 5, 2023, a Brick Township police officer discovered a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds near a disabled vehicle with two flat tires off Cherry Quay Road. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries and later transferred to a rehabilitation facility. She is now recovering at home.
Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Brick Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office linked Bray to the attack. He was arrested without incident later that evening in Manchester Township.
Bray has been held at the Ocean County Jail since his arrest and will now serve nearly two decades behind bars for the violent assault.
The sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that deeply impacted the local community.
