ALBANY, N.Y. — A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a December assault on Madison Avenue, while State Police continue to investigate a similar, unrelated attack near the Empire State Plaza earlier this month.
On December 26, 2024, at approximately 7:05 p.m., State Police responded to a report of an assault near Madison Avenue. Investigators determined that the victim was approached by a man who asked for money and, after being refused, struck the victim in the head. The victim fled and reported the incident to State Police at the Capital.
The suspect, identified as Andre Lundstrom, was arrested on January 2, 2025, and charged with second-degree harassment and third-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Albany City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
In a separate incident on January 15, 2025, at approximately 6:18 a.m., a person was assaulted while walking from the East Garage toward the Madison Avenue entrance of the Empire State Plaza. The victim was struck in the head by an unknown individual and immediately reported the attack. Troopers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
State Police are continuing their investigation into the second assault and have increased patrols in the area to enhance public safety.
Authorities urge anyone with information about suspicious activity to contact State Police as investigations remain ongoing.
