SEWICKLEY HEIGHTS, PA — The Allegheny County Police Department has confirmed that Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin’s three Stanley Cup Championship rings, initially reported stolen during a burglary at his Sewickley Heights home, have been located inside his residence.
Police announced the update on Thursday, stating that the investigation remains active. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
The investigation began on January 11 at approximately 8:30 p.m. when Sewickley Heights Police requested assistance from the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit following a burglary on Blackburn Road. The homeowner was later identified as Malkin, who discovered the break-in after returning home from a game.
Initial reports indicated that Malkin’s three Stanley Cup rings were missing, prompting a broader investigation. Detectives have since clarified that the rings were found within the property and had not been removed during the burglary.
County Police have stated there is currently no evidence linking this incident to national burglary rings targeting professional athletes. However, the investigation is ongoing as detectives work to identify the individuals responsible.
Authorities continue to investigate how the burglary occurred and whether other items were taken or if further security concerns exist.
