PHILADELPHIA, PA — A woman was fatally stabbed in Southwest Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, prompting an active investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
Police responded to a call at approximately 3:52 p.m. on the highway near 21xx S 58th Street in the city’s 12th District. Officers found a Black female victim, identified only as “Jane Doe” and believed to be in her late 20s, suffering from a single stab wound to the chest.
The victim was transported by Medic 19 to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:38 p.m.
Authorities confirmed that the weapon involved in the stabbing has been recovered, but no arrests have been made.
