WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting businesses in Northeast over the past week.

On Friday, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the suspect entered an establishment on the 1500 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast, wielding a knife and demanding money from the cash register. Employees refused to comply, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.

Officers in the area quickly apprehended the suspect, identified as Christopher Baker of Northeast, D.C., who was charged with assault with intent to commit robbery while armed. Further investigation linked Baker to four additional robberies in the same area.

In each case, Baker allegedly entered businesses, brandished a knife, and demanded cash. The incidents occurred on January 1, 2, 3, and 9 at various establishments along Rhode Island Avenue and Mount Olivet Road.

Baker now faces multiple charges for armed robbery as authorities continue to investigate the string of incidents.
