WASHINGTON, DC — A 52-year-old woman was arrested Sunday afternoon in connection with an assault involving a sharp object near L’Enfant Plaza in Southwest D.C.
The incident occurred around 3:26 p.m. at the intersection of Independence Avenue and L’Enfant Plaza Southwest. According to police, the suspect approached the victim, forced her to the ground, and attacked her with a sharp object.
Bystanders intervened, prompting the suspect to flee. The victim sustained a laceration and was transported to a nearby hospital by DC Fire and EMS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers from the First District apprehended the suspect shortly afterward. Crystal Williams-Carter, 52, who has no fixed address, was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
