BOSTON, MA — A Braintree man was arrested Monday night on multiple charges, including human trafficking for sexual servitude, following an investigation by the Boston Police Human Trafficking Unit and the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit.
At approximately 8:18 p.m. on January 13, detectives arrested Sacharis Gathers, 20, after observing him in a vehicle with a known victim of sexual exploitation near 69 Boston Street. Detectives had previously identified the victim through an online advertisement linked to past violent assaults.
After the victim exited the vehicle, detectives approached and placed Gathers in handcuffs. A search during the arrest led to the discovery of a plastic bag of crack cocaine and a glass jar containing two additional bags of the drug.
Gathers was charged with trafficking for sexual servitude, deriving support from prostitution, possession of Class B drugs (crack cocaine), and was found to have an outstanding warrant for auto law violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned in South Boston District Court today.
