CARROLL COUNTY, MD — The Office of the State Fire Marshal is seeking the public’s help in identifying those responsible for a series of mailbox explosions reported across the Manchester and Westminster areas over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a mailbox explosion in the 3000 block of Traceys Mill Road. Further investigation uncovered eight additional incidents, including in the 4000 block of Wentz Road in Manchester and the 2000 block of Cedar Ridge Road in Westminster. Authorities believe all the explosions occurred overnight from Saturday into Sunday.

Investigators recovered evidence suggesting fireworks were used to detonate the mailboxes. No injuries have been reported, but officials warn the incidents pose a significant safety risk to the community.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal is urging residents or anyone traveling through the area with information—or those who experienced similar damage but have not reported it—to contact the Northeast Regional Arson Tipline at 410-386-3050.
