WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 23-year-old Wall Township man was hospitalized after his vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. on January 8 in the area of State Highway 34 and Airport Boulevard. Police reported that the driver was traveling northbound on State Highway 34 when he veered off the road and collided with a utility pole, causing the vehicle to flip onto its roof.

Emergency responders extricated the driver from the overturned vehicle and transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for evaluation. His condition has not been disclosed.

The collision forced the closure of northbound State Highway 34 at West Hurley Pond Road for about two hours as crews repaired the damaged utility pole. One lane reopened during the repairs, and the roadway was fully cleared by 3:00 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation, and charges are pending. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Patrolman Wheeler at (732) 449-4500, ext. 1209.
