String of Knifepoint Robberies Strikes Brooklyn in Holiday Crime Wave

BROOKLYN, NY — A series of violent robberies swept through Brooklyn over the holiday season, with at least six knifepoint incidents reported between December 23, 2024, and January 3, 2025, according to the New York City Police Department.

The first incident occurred on December 23 at approximately 1:10 a.m. when an unidentified individual brandished a knife and stole merchandise from a store at 1567 Flatbush Avenue before fleeing. No injuries were reported.

Four days later, on December 27 at 5:18 p.m., four unidentified suspects attacked a 29-year-old woman on a northbound ‘2’ train at the Newkirk Avenue-Nostrand Avenue subway station. The suspects displayed a knife, physically assaulted the victim, and stole her cellphone. The woman sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

On December 30 at 9:20 p.m., two unidentified suspects approached a 37-year-old victim inside 2064 Nostrand Avenue, threatened the individual with a knife, and demanded property. The suspects escaped on foot without causing injuries.

The violence continued into the new year. On January 1 at 3:23 a.m., four individuals confronted two victims at 222 East 28th Street, forcibly pushing them against a wall while brandishing knives. The suspects stole two phones and credit cards before fleeing.

Just two hours later, at 5:20 a.m., a store employee at 1567 Flatbush Avenue was punched multiple times by an assailant who then displayed a knife and stole merchandise. The 22-year-old victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.

The most recent incident occurred on January 3 at 11:08 p.m. when a 52-year-old man was threatened with a knife outside 2064 Nostrand Avenue. The suspect stole food and cash before escaping. No injuries were reported.

Police have released descriptions of the suspects involved, including four individuals between the ages of 15 and 20, all with dark complexions. The suspects were last seen wearing dark clothing, with one female suspect reportedly wearing a black bonnet, black jacket, blue jeans, and white shoes.

The NYPD is actively investigating these incidents as the community remains on edge following the spike in violent robberies.
