Three-vehicle crash in Howard County leaves one dead, multiple injured

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A three-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Glenwood left one person dead and sent multiple people to hospitals, Howard County police confirmed.

The crash happened at around 5 a.m. on Route 97 near Roxbury Road. Police said a Honda traveling north crossed the center line, striking a Chevrolet Silverado. The Honda then collided with a Chevrolet Traverse traveling south before coming to a stop at a guardrail.

A passenger in the Honda was ejected during the collision and died at the scene. The driver and another passenger in the Honda were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where one passenger is being treated for life-threatening injuries. A third passenger in the Honda sustained minor injuries.

The driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet Silverado were transported to Carroll Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger in the Chevrolet Traverse were not seriously hurt.

Route 97 was closed at Roxbury Road for approximately five hours as first responders worked to clear the scene and police began their investigation into the cause of the crash.
