RICHMOND, Va. — Two Virginia men were sentenced to federal prison after being convicted of selling methamphetamine and machinegun conversion devices (MCDs) to an undercover agent, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced on Wednesday.

Damien Jahon Reynolds, 36, of Woodford, and Trey Wright, 26, of Fredericksburg, sold methamphetamine disguised as “ecstasy” pills, 12 machinegun conversion devices, and two privately made firearms equipped with additional MCDs during a December 2023 transaction with an undercover Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agent. Reynolds also possessed additional methamphetamine and MCDs at his residence, according to court records.

Machinegun conversion devices render semiautomatic firearms capable of fully automatic fire and are classified as machineguns under federal law.

Wright pleaded guilty in April 2024 to charges of distributing methamphetamine and possession of machineguns. He was sentenced on Wednesday to two years and six months in prison. Reynolds, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession of machineguns, was sentenced on November 21 to 12 years and seven months in prison.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ellen Hubbard, also an Assistant Attorney General with the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter S. Duffey. The investigation was conducted by the ATF with assistance from the Virginia Attorney General’s Office.
