Philadelphia man arrested in fatal 2024 Pratt Street shooting

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Kenneth Kennedy-McLeod, who was killed in a convenience store on Pratt Street last summer, police said Wednesday.

Siddeeq Shakoor was taken into custody by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Fugitive Unit on Jan. 8, 2025. He faces charges including murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, and firearms violations, according to authorities.

Kennedy-McLeod, 37, was shot multiple times in the shoulders during an early morning incident on July 11, 2024, in the 1500 block of Pratt Street. Officers responding to a call about a “person with a gun” and a “male down on the highway” discovered him inside a convenience store.

The victim, who lived on the 2000 block of East Lehigh Avenue, was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:43 a.m., less than 30 minutes after the shooting.

Investigators allege Shakoor was involved in a conspiracy that led to Kennedy-McLeod’s killing, but further details about the motive or events leading up to the incident have not been disclosed.
