TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Snowfall across New Jersey on Friday morning caused widespread traffic delays, speed restrictions, and ongoing salting operations as commuters navigated slippery roads and reduced visibility.
The Garden State Parkway has been particularly impacted, with speed advisories issued in both directions between Egg Harbor Township (Exit 30) and Tinton Falls (Exit 105), limiting vehicles to 45 miles per hour. Full salting operations are underway. Further south, a 35-mph restriction is in place from Cape May (CR 109) to Atlantic City Expressway (Exit 38A), with plowing operations in progress.
The New Jersey Turnpike also implemented speed restrictions of 45 mph between the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pennsville Township and Interchange 8A in South Brunswick Township, as well as along the Pennsylvania Extension from the Delaware River Bridge to Mansfield Township. Salting and plowing operations continue in these areas.
Major delays were reported across the state. Traffic on NJ 139 Lower Eastbound near Jersey City was moving slowly, with travel times of five to ten minutes as of 8:20 a.m. The George Washington Bridge’s upper and lower levels eastbound from I-80 in Fort Lee had a travel time of 25 minutes to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge. A two-mile delay was also reported on the northbound Garden State Parkway between Bloomfield (Exit 151) and Clifton (Exit 153A).
Additional delays were seen on the Pulaski Skyway, NJ 17 southbound, NJ 208 southbound, and NJ 24 westbound. While all lanes remained open, snow-related conditions contributed to slower travel times throughout the morning.
Officials have urged drivers to exercise caution as road conditions remain hazardous due to continued winter weather and ongoing maintenance efforts.
