LLOYD, N.Y. — A New York State Police cruiser was struck by a drunk driver earlier this week while officers were conducting a traffic stop in the town of Lloyd, authorities said on social media Friday.
The collision occurred when the impaired driver rear-ended the marked police vehicle, causing it to lurch forward and hit the car that troopers had pulled over. Two troopers and two civilians sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, according to the New York State Police.
Police confirmed that all individuals involved are expected to recover, but they emphasized that the situation had the potential for much graver consequences.
“This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving,” the New York State Police stated in their social media post.
