NEW YORK — Police are searching for two suspects connected to a series of headphone thefts across multiple precincts in New York City over the past week, the NYPD announced.
The thefts, which are being investigated as part of a grand larceny pattern, targeted young women walking in various neighborhoods. In each case, the suspects approached their victims from behind, forcibly removed their headphones, and fled on foot. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
The first incident occurred on December 25 around 12:48 p.m. at the intersection of West 19 Street and 5 Avenue in Manhattan. A 26-year-old woman was approached from behind by two individuals who snatched her headphones before fleeing westbound on 5 Avenue.
The second theft took place on December 26 at approximately 12:15 p.m. near Sutphin Boulevard and 95 Avenue in Queens, where a 22-year-old woman was similarly targeted. The suspects fled westbound on 95 Avenue after stealing her headphones.
The third incident happened on December 27 around 12:30 p.m. near Dekalb Avenue and Wilson Avenue in Brooklyn. A 21-year-old woman walking in the area had her headphones snatched by two individuals who fled northbound on Wilson Avenue.
The fourth theft occurred on December 30 at approximately 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of Fulton Street and Cleveland Street in Brooklyn’s 75th Precinct. A 22-year-old woman was approached by one individual who stole her headphones and fled in an unknown direction.
The NYPD has released surveillance images of the suspects and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
