Police investigating fatal hit-and-run crash in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC — A 66-year-old man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash Tuesday evening when a vehicle struck him on a sidewalk in Northeast Washington, police said.

The crash occurred around 7:04 p.m. near the intersection of C Street and 16th Street, Northeast. Responding officers found the victim, identified as Ronnie Clark of Northeast DC, who had been hit by a vehicle on the south side of the 1500 block of C Street.

Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect vehicle, a 2010 Nissan Murano, was traveling at high speed when it lost control, struck a curb, and mounted the sidewalk before hitting Clark. The driver fled the scene on foot, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
