DEAL, NJ — A 20-year-old man from Asbury Park has been charged in connection with a house fire that destroyed a residence in Deal on Sunday morning, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Monday.
Nasyr-Alaire D. Fisher faces multiple charges, including second-degree burglary, third-degree arson, and six counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The fire was reported at approximately 6:31 a.m. on Lady Bess Drive. Responding firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames, and Fisher was located nearby by Deal Police officers shortly afterward.
An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and Deal Police Department determined Fisher was responsible for setting the fire. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending his first court appearance.
Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact MCPO Detective Brian Migliorisi or Deal Police Detective Nicholas Dowling.
