Three juveniles arrested after police pursuit ends in crash in South Jersey

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three juveniles were arrested Friday morning after a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash in Pleasantville, according to the Galloway Township Police Department.

The incident began at approximately 10:33 a.m. when a resident on the 100 block of Frankfurt Avenue reported a suspicious white hatchback sedan in her driveway. Video surveillance showed a male suspect exiting the vehicle, entering the caller’s unlocked car, and rummaging through its contents. Police said the white hatchback matched the description of a vehicle recently reported stolen in Pleasantville.

Responding officers spotted the suspect vehicle traveling eastbound on the White Horse Pike at high speed and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver refused to comply, initiating a pursuit that stretched through Galloway and Absecon before ending in Pleasantville when the stolen vehicle crashed into another car.

Two male suspects fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by officers from Galloway and Pleasantville Police Departments. A female suspect remained at the crash site and was arrested.

The 13-year-old male from Atlantic City and 14-year-old female from Egg Harbor Township were charged with joyriding and receiving stolen property. The 13-year-old was also charged with resisting arrest by flight and placed on home monitoring.

The 15-year-old driver faced a range of charges, including receiving stolen property, eluding police, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, assault by auto, and multiple motor vehicle offenses. After receiving medical clearance at a hospital, he was lodged in Harborfields Juvenile Detention Facility.
