BALTIMORE, MD – A 36-year-old suspect was arrested late Monday night following an armed robbery, a high-speed chase, and a foot pursuit in Baltimore’s Southwest District.
On December 23 at approximately 11:57 p.m., a Southwest District officer noticed a car with its lights off at a gas station in the 3900 block of Frederick Avenue. When the officer called out to the driver, the individual stated he had just been robbed at gunpoint and pointed to a grey Honda Civic speeding away from the scene.
Officers began pursuing the vehicle, with assistance from Foxtrot, the police helicopter. Due to the suspect’s dangerous driving speeds, patrol officers stopped their pursuit, leaving Foxtrot to track the vehicle to a neighborhood in the Northwest District. The suspect exited the car, fled on foot, but was guided to police by Foxtrot and apprehended.
A loaded handgun was recovered, and the vehicle was determined to have been reported stolen. Police also learned the suspect had an open warrant. The robbery victim was unharmed, and his property was recovered.
The suspect was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility (CBIF) for processing.
